Leyton Orient - The Den - Tuesday 20th February
Leyton Orient travel to South London tonight to face in form Millwall on the back of a home point gained against Carlisle on Saturday in a 1-1 draw, this ended two consecutive large defeats, 0-5 away at Bournemouth, and a thoroughly depressing 1-4 home humping to a poor Brighton side.
Saturdays draw saw both Club Captain John Mackie and fellow central defender Alton Thelwell limp off and both are expected to miss tonight’s derby along with influential midfielder Luke Guttridge, and in form striker Jabo Ibehre. These four miss the match alongside long term injuries Michael Simpson and Efe Echanomi.
I’d expect the mighty O’s to line up very similar to this;
Garner
Miller
Lockwood
Saah
Tann
Tudor
Easton
Chambers
Cordon
Alexander
Jarvis
Alexander and Tudor will have different opinions on tonight with Gary Alexander relishing a trip to the club he supports and he will look to end his barren spell in front of goal in front of his Millwall supporting friends. Tudor will no doubt cop some abuse from the Millwall faithful; this could well inspire him to produce his exciting wing play of late.
On paper this looks a home win, but being a London Derby I wouldn’t rule out an O’s victory. 7/2 from Corals for an away win gets my tenner, with Gary Alexander getting a couple of quid for first scorer. Make no mistake Leyton Orient are capable of winning this match, they have been poor recently but like most teams in this pretty awful division, consistency is the key they have yet to find. Injuries have also played a part in their recent poor form with the wafer thin squad surprisingly not substantially added to in the transfer or loan window.
