Crewe - The Den - Tuesday the 13th of March

Millwall go into tonight’s game with Crewe Alexandra in terrific form after Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Carlisle United took our form to 10 wins from our last 13.

It’s an often used football cliché but tonight really is a must win game if we have any aspirations of sneaking into 6th spot. With two tough away games coming up at Bournemouth and Port Vale anything less than 3 points tonight will again leave us with a mountain to climb to claw ourselves back into contention.

Playing Crewe couldn’t have come at a better time in all honesty. They’ll be without their top strikers Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard so Rodney Jack and Michael Higdon should take their places. The Crewe side should be unchanged from the one which slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Gillingham.

The Millwall side will remain unchanged.

One To Watch

Jack

Rodney Jack signed for Crewe from Torquay in the summer of 98 for a club record transfer fee, which still stands, at £650,000.

Jack went on to score 42 goals in 188 appearances before the club released him in 2002. He went on to play for Rushden & Diamonds and Oldham Athletic before the club re-signed him in August 2006 on a month-to-month contract.

The St Vincent International is now 35 so I think it’ll be fair to say the pace he once had to burn isn’t what it used to be. Despite only scoring twice this season, Jack is certainly the one we’ll have to watch.
